Patient Participation Group

Lambourn surgery have an active patient participation group. The purpose of the group is to represent the views of the village and surrounding catchment with regard to the surgery. They will ensure any issues raised are aired at the quarterly meetings. They are also kept informed of any developments and news from the surgery. There is always a representative of the surgery present at the meeting.

If you are interested in joining the group please contact the surgery, and we will put you in touch with one of the committee members.

The minutes of the meetings are written by the committee not the surgery. They do not reflect surgery opinion or views unless stated.

Minutes from the meeting of the committee held on the 9th of January 2018 @ 6.30 pm Members present:

Present: Dr Copas, Louise Murray-Clarke, Graham Jones, Blanche Herman, Annabel Owen, Jane McCarthy, Brian Delaney and Jacqueline de Burgh

Apologies:  Angela Barfield, Tina Nims - both down with 'flu'

Minutes of the on Monday 23rd October 2017 meeting had been distributed and were approved.

Matters arising: None

NHS Patients Panel (PP): The minutes of the last meeting were circulated. They were mainly to do with the talk given by Steve McManus, CEO of the Royal Berkshire Hospital (RBH) on the Strategic Clinic Model for Ambulatory Care Sites and Clinical Development of West Berkshire Community Hospital stating RBH was outstanding in many things but all the satellite hospitals must ingrate and specialise. Plans are progressing to give access to a GP for 7 days a week with practices sharing the work load. Technology is progressing and in the future more will be done via telephone/computer including acute care. Parking is a problem at RBH but plans are afoot to make Park and Ride a feasible option. Patients don't realise that when they are referred to a hospital that sets a path for their care but steps are being taken to join up with hospitals i.e. John Radcliffe, Great Western, Basingstoke etc.

Surgery Report: Louise answered the above. There is a problem with 7 day access to a GP which the CQC are trying to sort out. It will probably involve West Call. At the moment there are 3 different computer systems across the hospitals we use, resulting in being unable to gain full access records. But there is, for those patients who know how to operate a computer, a new website with 4 boxes to enable a patient to be directed to the right help i.e. hospital, surgery etc. There is a National Patient Surgery out and our Surgery came top in West Berkshire in all 2 categories. When the final document comes out Louise is going to post the results on the Surgery Facebook page. The Surgery, having found out who is genuinely housebound, is looking for a paid member of staff to deliver medication as at the moment the Surgery Staff are doing it and are held up 'chattering'.

Any other business: Graham Jones has employed another Pharmacist who is called Harv and he will be working 3 days a week in the Lambourn Pharmacy.

Date of the next meeting:  Monday 9th of April at the Surgery at 6.30pm
